■ 아리스타르코스의 계산

Aristarchus' Calculations

This text explains how the ancient Greek astronomer Aristarchus calculated the sizes and distances of the Earth and the Sun. Aristarchus used the position of the Earth, Moon, and Sun when the Moon was half-full, the angles between the Moon and the Sun, and the time it took for the Moon to pass through the Earth's shadow during a lunar eclipse. Although his results were quite different from what we know today due to inaccurate observations and limited measuring techniques, his method was one of the primary ways to estimate the size of the solar system until the 18th century.
