■ 블록체인과 암호 화폐

블록체인은 연결된 블록을 P2P 네트워크를 통해 분산하여 저장하는 기술이다. 거래 내역을 포함하는 본문과 직전 블록의 연결 정보를 가진 블록이 사슬처럼 연결된 블록체인이 원장이 되고 이 원장을 모든 참여자들이 공유하므로 원장의 위 변조가 어렵다. 블록체인 기술을 활용하는 전자 화폐로 비트코인과 같은 암호 화폐는 중앙은행과 같은 제삼자의 가치 담보 없이도 안정되게 화폐 가치를 인정받을 수 있다. 비트코인은 작업 증명에 의해 거래를 승인하고 가장 먼저 승인을 얻어 내는 참가자에게 비트코인을 발행해 주는 ‘채굴’을 통해 작동된다. 블록체인은 여러 장점에도 불구하고 큰 저장 용량과 거래 및 합의 시간의 요구 등 해결해야 될 문제를 가지고 있다.

Blockchain and Cryptocurrency

Blockchain is a technology that distributes connected blocks across a P2P network for decentralized storage. A blockchain consists of blocks linked like a chain, each containing transaction data and the cryptographic hash of the previous block, making the ledger tamper-resistant since it is shared by all participants.

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin utilize blockchain technology as digital currencies without the backing of a central authority like a central bank. They gain stability and recognition as currency due to blockchain's ability to prevent tampering with the ledger. Bitcoin operates through a process called 'mining,' where transactions are verified by proof of work, and the first participant to validate transactions earns newly issued Bitcoins.

Despite its advantages, blockchain faces challenges such as large storage requirements, transaction speed, and consensus time.
