■ 퍼트넘의 사회적 자본

Putnam's Social Capital

This article introduces Putnam's view that social capital can solve the dilemma of collective action. The social capital he proposed includes reciprocity, trust, and networks. He believed that generalized reciprocity and thin trust are necessary for social integration. For these to improve, the group needs to have a horizontal network structure, where members are connected with equal power. Putnam also argued that members of groups with long-accumulated social capital tend to show moral behavior. He tried to prove his point by relating it to the process of establishing self-governance in Italy.
